I’m currently working with my five year old on recognizing uppercase and lowercase letters. He’ll often mix up “big” and “little” letters while practicing his handwriting. I used bottle caps to create a simple activity for identifying which letters are capitol letters, and which are not.  Missed the post where I showed how I made these lettered bottle caps? This activity is as easy as dumping all of the lettered bottle caps into a pile.

We created two different groups, uppercase and lowercase. My son then had to determine to which group each letter belonged.

This was so simple that my little one could work independently.

He felt quite accomplished when he finished sorting all of the letters.
