Plastic bottle caps make a great early learning manipulative. Their uses are endless!

I’ve found that 1″ round mailing labels fit perfectly on milk bottle caps. You can easily find them at office supply stores:

I recently made two full sets of alphabet manipulatives – one upper case and one lower case – by sticking marked labels onto caps.

I made a quick alphabet match game for my boys by first separating the lowercase letters from the uppercase letters.

Then I gave the boys instructions to pick a lowercase letter and then find it’s match from the uppercase group. After a one round, I challenged the boys to see if they could beat a time limit. My boys thrive on competition!

The boys had so much fun, I doubt they even realized they were “doing school.” For more early learning ideas that utilize bottle caps, click here.
